Yes. RSM accepts a C1.1-level (CEFR) English course or test completed at an accredited university of applied sciences or research university within the EU/EEA. The course or test must cover all four language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking.


Accepted forms of proof

You can provide one of the following:

  • Grade list/transcript: the English course or test is clearly listed on your official grade list, including the obtained C1.1 (CEFR) level.
  • RSM English Proficiency Form: download the form here and ask your university to complete and sign it.
  • Course or test certificate: the certificate clearly states the obtained C1.1 (CEFR) level.
  • Official statement from your university: the statement confirms the obtained C1.1 (CEFR) level.


In all cases, the course or test must cover reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Test results must be no older than 3 years at the time of application.


Online placement tests, such as OLS (Online Language Support for Erasmus+) and the Oxford Online Placement Test, are not accepted.


A course or assessment via Erasmus University Rotterdam

The Language & Training Centre (LTC) offers English assessments and C1.1-level English courses throughout the year. Both the overall level as well as individual skills must be at C1.1 level.

For former RSM BA students, the following courses are also accepted:

  • English Business Speaking and Writing Skills (BKB1035-D)
